After overcoming the challenges from the previous year's setbacks that led to Sam Altman's temporary departure and return, OpenAI has just revealed the eagerly anticipated GPT Store, now officially open for business. Drawing parallels with the familiar Microsoft Store, this platform serves as a centralized hub where users can easily share their personally crafted chatbots.
Last November, OpenAI introduced the GPT Builder Program, resulting in an impressive creation of around 3 million GPT bots by users. The GPT Store will showcase a diverse range of these custom bots, spanning categories like DALL·E, writing, research, programming, education, and lifestyle. Notably, OpenAI has emphasized its commitment to enhancing the discoverability of these invaluable custom GPTs through the GPT Store.
For users, the GPT Store offers a public stage to proudly showcase their creations and elevate the visibility of their custom bots built on ChatGPT. Unfortunately, this privilege is currently limited to users with ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions. Excitingly, OpenAI has also unveiled plans for a revenue-sharing program targeted at GPT creators. This initiative provides a pathway for creators to receive compensation for their inventive contributions, with user engagement being the primary factor influencing compensation. The rollout of this program is anticipated within the first quarter of the year.
OpenAI is not only introducing a captivating avenue for creators but also ensuring the quality of content through a comprehensive review system. This system ensures that all GPT bots featured in the GPT Store align with OpenAI's brand guidelines and usage policies. Additionally, the company is simplifying the process of reporting any issues with GPT bots, underlining their commitment to user satisfaction and community well-being.
